Opal - The Second Birthstone of October
Opal is a stone that has a characteristic called play-of-color. According to them, it is composed of microscopic silica spheres which gave its ability to change colors when diffracting to the light. Its name was obtained from the Greek word “Opallus” and from the Sanskrit “upala” which means to see a change in color and precious stone.
A number of varieties of this gemstone do exist however only a few are being recognized by the public. You may find this stone to different places like Mexico, Brazil, Honduras, Ethiopia, Czech Republic, in some parts of the United States and last would be Australia which is the country that has produced 95 percent of world’s supply.
According to ancient Romans, Opal gives good luck and hope to people. As per an Australian legend, it controls the stars, love among people and gold in the mines. Despite this positive effect, a belief in France created a negative side of it which was according to them; the stone has the ability to submit its wearer invisible, meaning a person can steal anytime without being caught by others.
There are 3 basic types of Opal: black, white, boulder. Boulder opal can manifest your purpose in life and awakens your spirit to help you find the correct path and reason for living a life in this world. As for black Opal, it gives you positivity and the strength to live your life to the fullest. Lastly, white opal helps a person to become more open-minded in every situation he or she has to have a wider understanding and more options on how to deal with it.
