Care for Amethyst

In the MOHS scale of hardness, Amethyst is a 7. Jewelry with Amethyst stone is suitable for everyday use. Over time, with everyday use and exposure to sunlight, the stone might show changes.

Storage

Amethyst stones are more prone to damage compared to harder stones such as rubies, sapphire, and diamonds. Wrap them in a clean soft cloth and separate them from other harder stones. Storing them all together can cause the amethyst to incur scratches.

Cleaning

You can clean Amethyst jewelry with an ultrasonic cleaner or a steamer, but be careful to refrain from thermal shock. The safest way to clean these stones is through the use of a brush (with soft bristles) and mild soap.
